Ford Hydraulic Pump

The brakes on my 1993 Ford Explorer will sometimes get stiff and I feel and hear a pulsating from them.?
(They don’t do a good job of braking when this happens and I am affraid it may be the hydraulic pump.)
This happens rarely. It is getting more frequent. When it does happen it pulsates violently and the vehicle takes about twice as long to stop.
I can’t believe Dodgeman, being a “mechanic” for over 36 yrs and yahoo “expert” would say “monitor your brakes”!!?? If you think you have a problem with a major safety item, your brakes! have them checked out ASAP!! Driving a vehicle is a priviledge, be safe to yourself and your fellow drivers on the road.
